About Text Diff
Text Diff highlights what changed between two versions of a text — lines added, removed, and modified, with the exact words that differ inside changed lines. Use the side-by-side view for review and the unified view to copy a patch-style summary.
How to use Text Diff
- Paste the original text on the left and the changed text on the right, or open files.
- Choose options such as ignoring whitespace or letter case.
- Select Compare (Ctrl/⌘ + Enter).
- Switch between side-by-side and unified views; copy the unified diff if needed.
Examples
Contract revisions
Paste two versions of a clause to see exactly which words were changed.
Config files
Compare two .env or YAML files with whitespace differences ignored.
Limitations
- Very large inputs (several megabytes with many changes) can take a few seconds.
- Binary files are not supported.

Frequently asked questions
Is my input sent anywhere?
No. Processing happens in your browser. Utilhex does not send tool input to its servers, analytics, or any AI service.
What does ignore whitespace do?
Lines that differ only in spaces or tabs are treated as equal, which is useful for re-indented code.
Can I export the result?
Yes. Copy or download the unified diff, a standard format used by Git and patch tools.
