About Split PDF
Split PDF divides one document into several smaller PDFs. Describe the ranges you need — for example 1-3, 4-10, 11 — or split every page into its own file. When more than one file is produced, they are bundled into a ZIP archive.
How to use Split PDF
- Choose the PDF you want to split.
- Pick a mode: custom page ranges, or one file per page.
- For custom ranges, enter ranges separated by commas, such as 1-3, 5, 8-. Each range becomes a separate PDF.
- Select Split PDF and download the result.
Examples
Ranges
1-3, 4-6, 7- produces three files: pages 1–3, pages 4–6, and page 7 to the end.
Single pages
Choosing one file per page on a 12-page document produces 12 PDFs in a ZIP archive.
Limitations
- Encrypted PDFs must be unlocked before splitting.
- Bookmarks and document-level attachments are not copied into the split files.
- A maximum of 500 output files can be created in one run.

Frequently asked questions
Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?
No. The file is read and processed by JavaScript running in your browser tab. Utilhex never receives the document, and closing the tab discards it.
What range syntax is supported?
Use single pages (5), closed ranges (2-7), and open ranges that run to the last page (8-). Separate ranges with commas. Page numbers start at 1.
Can the same page appear in several output files?
Yes. Overlapping ranges such as 1-5, 3-8 are allowed; each range is exported independently.
Can I use password-protected PDFs?
Not yet. Encrypted PDFs are detected and rejected with an explanation instead of producing a broken file. Remove the password in the application you used to protect it, then try again.
