About Convert Image
Convert Image changes the file format of one or many images. Any format your browser can open can be converted to PNG, JPG, or WebP; AVIF output is offered only when your browser can encode it. When converting transparent images to JPG, choose the background color to fill transparent areas.
How to use Convert Image
- Add one or more images.
- Choose the output format and, for lossy formats, the quality.
- For JPG output, pick a background color for transparent areas.
- Select Convert images and download the files or a ZIP.
Examples
WebP to JPG
Convert downloaded WebP images to JPG for apps that do not support WebP.
PNG to WebP
Convert PNG graphics to WebP to reduce their size while keeping transparency.
Limitations
- Input support depends on your browser. HEIC can be opened only in Safari.
- AVIF encoding is not available in every browser; the option is hidden when unsupported.
- Animated images are converted using the first frame.

Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded?
No. Images are decoded and re-encoded by your browser on your device. Utilhex never receives them.
Will converting to PNG improve quality?
No. PNG is lossless, so it preserves the current quality exactly, but it cannot restore detail lost in an earlier JPG compression.
Is photo metadata (EXIF) kept?
No. Re-encoding through the browser canvas removes EXIF data such as GPS location and camera details, which is usually a privacy benefit. The image is rotated upright first.
